From The Vault: Stupid Crook Story.

When I was in my 20s, I worked at a financial institution. I was a computer programmer so I was in the back office rather than at a branch. Anyway, we had several branches which we referred to as stop and rob branches as they were frequently robbed due to their easy access to the freeway, etc.

So one day, a guy goes into one of the stop and rob branches and demands money from one of the tellers. The teller gave the money to the robber along with a dye pack. Dye packs are designed to explode when someone handles it. Its easily hidden amongst paper currency and when it explodes, it causes a burning sensation.

Mr. Genius bank robber grabs the money and shoves it down the front of his pants. As hes running from the branch, the pack explodes. Suddenly the robber drops his pants and throws all the money into the parking lot while dancing in pain. He then runs off. (He was later caught, of course.) Now, Mr. Opportunity was standing outside the branch and witnessed this whole debacle. What did he do? Why, he picked up all the discarded cash and ran. He was picked up almost immediately and was at quite a loss to explain why both his money and his hands were stained orange.
